Happy New Year!

New Year resolutions! Most of us make them, or think that they should at least try to make one!
But how many people manage to keep the resolutions they make for the coming year, or even for a month?

One reason could be that they are unattainable, setting too high an expectation on oneself can result in a negative outcome, in other words, we just give up, it's all too hard.

It can help to write down your hopes, dreams and aspirations for 2010, and to review them frequently (even update them when necessary!) the outcome will then be far more positive and you won't feel the downside of having not reached your own expectations.

May 2010 see all your hopes and dreams come true.

I wish you a very Happy and Healthy New year.

The Importance Of A Good Breakfast

Eating a good breakfast, especially at this time of the year when we are so busy, can be a challenge!
How many of us skip breakfast altogether? I admit to having done so on occasion, but for many of us it is a regular habit.

Did you know that as well as risking that mid - morning energy crisis, restlessness and junk food craving, your brain will have difficulty in functioning at it's optimal level, and you may experience lack of concentration and "brain fog".

Our bodies need a "kick start" in the morning after "fasting" all night, and essential nutrients in foods such as oats, quinoa, fruits (such as bananas, strawberries, and pears), wholegrain bread and organic free range eggs help to keep your system strong and full of energy.

So start your day with a nutritious breakfast every day and feel the difference.

The Christmas Season

I love Christmas. It's a time for giving and for spending time with family and friends, but it can also be a time which is overtaken by commercialism and we can become too materialistic with our wants and demands.

It is good to remember that it is also a time to show our love and caring to all mankind. I cherish this quotation from Helen Keller which always brings me back to appreciating the really important things in life.

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart."

So take some time during the festive season to experience gratitude and appreciation for the "best and most beautiful" things in your life.
